Tepe Hissar

Tepe Hissar is the site of an ancient settlement near Damghan in north-eastern Iran. The site was investigated around In 1931 and 1932, excavations were undertaken by the University of Pennsylvania Museum.

Occupation has been divided into three major periods. The earliest dating is uncertain but established as after 5000BCE and the latest at around 1900BCE. There have been fine painted potteries recovered here from the 4th millennium BC.[1] The 3rd millennium BC saw a burnished gray pottery make its appearance, along with copper.[1]
