Teofisto de Lara Guingona III (born April 19, 1959) commonly known as TG, is a Filipino politician and senator in the Senate of the Philippines who has been elected since 2010.

Political life

Representative of 2nd District, Bukidnon

In 2004, Guingona was elected to two terms in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, as the Representative from the Second District of Bukidnon. He is a member of the Liberal Party.

Senator

Guingona ran for senator under the Liberal Party lineup. His advocacy is to protect the government funds from corrupt officials, conveying his tag line, "Galit sa buwaya!" (Angry at crocodiles.). Guingona placed 12th in the senatorial slate. He took oath on June 30, 2010.

He is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers & Investigations (Blue Ribbon); Peace, Unification & Reconciliation and the Oversight Committee on Anti-Money Laundering.

Personal life

He is married to Attorney Ma. Victoria Garcia and has one son Roberto (Bobby). His father, Teofisto Guingona, Jr., was the 13th Vice President of the Philippines, serving from 2001 to 2004, and a former Senator, serving from 1998 to 2001. His grandfather, Teofisto Guingona, Sr., was a former assemblyman, senator, judge and commissioner of Mindanao and Sulu during the American period
