Tensa is a Town Wonder Natural Hill Station in Sundargarh District in the Indian state of Odisha.Tensa has been declared the best mine by the Director General of Mines Safety, Govt. of India.The origins of Tensa are unknown but it is believed that Tensa used to be a tribal settlement prior to industrialization. Soon after the coming of Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL) Iron Mines in 1960. Khandadhar water fall (where Odisha Government lease POSCO to mine Iron Ore) is a picnic spot nearer to Tensa.

Demographics

As of 2013 India census,[1] Tensa had a population of 20,285. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Tensa has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 61%. In Tensa, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tensa is Large part of SAIL Because of Iron Ore Mines and is situated near to Major Cities Joda,Barbil & Rourkela which is connected with Capital City Bhubaneswar in Eastern India. Tensa is surrounded by Green Forest with mineral deposit.Tensa is Famous for Winter Season. Tensa is located 100 kilometers from the Rourkela . Tensa was developed by SAIL and later little by JSPL.

By Rail: The nearest Barsuan Station is located at Barsuan Valley.There is only One Passenger trains daily to Barsuan From Rourkela. connected by rail to all major cities in India. By Road: Daily bus services link to Tensa From Rourkela and Bhubaneswar.
