Tenali mandal is one of the 57 mandals in Guntur district of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is under the administration of Tenali Revenue Division and the headquarters are located at Tenali city.[3] The mandal is bounded by Pedakakani, Duggirala, Kollipara, Vemuru, Amruthalur, Tsundur and Chebrole mandals.[4][5] The mandal is also a part of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region under the jurisdiction of APCRDA.[6]

Demographics

As of 2011 census, the mandal had a population of 240,031. The total population constitute, 118,616 males and 121,415 females —a sex ratio of 1024 females per 1000 males. 21,333 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 10,939 are boys and 10,394 are girls. The average literacy rate stands at 79.89% with 174,711 literates.[2]

As of 2011 census, the mandal has 13 settlements. It includes 1 town and 12 villages. Tenali (M) is the most populated village and Nelapadu is the least populated village in the mandal.[7][3][8]

Government and politics

Tenali mandal is one of the 2 mandals under Tenali (Assembly constituency), which in turn represents Guntur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Andhra Pradesh.[10] It was under Tenali (Lok Sabha constituency) till delimitation orders of 2008.[11] The present MLA representing Tenali (Assembly constituency) is Alapati Rajendra Prasad of Telugu Desam Party.[12][13]
