Telos Systems is an American corporation manufacturing audio products primarily for broadcast stations. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, Telos develops, sells, and supports equipment such as telephone hybrids and on-air talkshow systems, ISDN codecs, POTS codecs, IP codecs, and audio logging recorders. Its Omnia division makes audio processors for AM, FM, HD Radio, and Internet audio streaming applications. Its Axia division makes mixing consoles and audio distribution systems based on Livewire IP networking,[1] an audio over Ethernet protocol. Its Linear Acoustic division makes audio equipment for television stations and networks, including dynamics processors and multi-channel codecs.

History and founder

The company was founded in 1985 by radio station engineer and talkshow host (WFBQ, WMMS) Steve Church.[2][3] Its inaugural product was a telephone interface based on digital signal processing, the first application of such technology to radio studio equipment. In 2010 Church received the National Association of Broadcaster's (NAB) radio engineering award.[4] Church stepped down as CEO of Telos in January 2011 and died on September 28, 2012 after a three-year battle with brain cancer.[5]
