Tellison is a four-piece indie rock band from London, England, formed in 2003. The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Stephen Davidson, lead guitarist and vocalist Peter Phillips, bass guitarist and vocalist Andrew Tickell and drummer Henry Danowski.
After releasing three 7" singles and a three-track EP, the band released its first studio album Contact! Contact! (2007) to critical praise and was later placed third in Rock Sound's "Best Unsigned Act" poll.[1]
The band is currently signed to independent label Alcopop! Records.
History
Formation, EP and first album
They met in Kingston, Hampshire, and Brixton after their initial meeting at school in the early 2000s.[1] Their first release was a split EP with Northampton band Seven Years, called Tellison and Sevenyears. They went on to release a self-titled three-track EP in September 2006.[2] The first album, Contact! Contact!, was released on 16 November 2007, after being recorded with two different producers, over a period of six months.[3] The album was very well received with praise coming in particular from Rock Sound, Rockfeedback[4] and Alternative Ulster.
Second album
In May 2010, Tellison began work on a second studio album, The Wages of Fear, with producer Peter Miles in the Scottish Borders. The first single from the album, "Collarbone", was released as a 7" on 22 November 2010 with B-side, "Mountain Mode". Fans who pre-ordered the 7" were given a free digital EP download, including another B-side, "Experience", the 2XL remix of "Edith Wharton" (a track from the upcoming album) and the Rolo Tomassi remix of "Collarbone".
The Wages of Fear was released on 13 June to critical acclaim.[5][6][7][8]
In 2015 the band announced that they had signed to Alcopop! Records.
