Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Hyderabad is a research institution coming up in Hyderabad, India.[1] It is an affiliate of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.

The institute

TIFR Hyderabad is coming up on 209 acre campus at Hyderabad Central University campus. It has commenced operations at its temporary campus at 21 Brundavan Colony, Narsingi. The first batch of PhD admits came in during the Fall term of 2013 and it currently boasts of a strength of around 50 full time students and approximately 30 visiting students and post-doctorate fellows.

The grand aim of the institute is to promote research that involves a number of disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Admissions are conducted twice a year, once in August and once in January. Students are required to take the GATE, JEST, the TIFR-GS or the NET examinations. Upon a first round of selection, they then go through a face-to-face interview before being admitted.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for the institute on 19 October 2010.[2]
