The Taranaki Mountain Airs are a New Zealand professional basketball team that compete in the National Basketball League. They have previously been known as the New Plymouth Bulls (1985–93), the Taranaki Bears (1994–98), the Taranaki Oilers (1999) and the Devon Dynamos Taranaki (2008–09).
They play their home games at TSB Stadium in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Due to a lack of funding, they did not compete in the NBL from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, they were readmitted to the league and took on the "Mountain Airs" nickname. Their best results in the NBL were third place in 1988, 1991 and 1992.
The current coaching staff consists of head coach Daryn Shaw, and assistant coaches Willie Banks and Steve McKean. Shaw and Banks are former Taranaki players, who played together under McKean.[2]
