Tara Newz (Bengali: তারা নিউজ) (also known as Tara News), is a 24 hour Bengali language news channel, covering local news of West Bengal, India and Bangladesh as well as national and international news, was operated by Broadcast Worldwide Limited, a Public Limited Company, with other channels under its umbrella, viz. TARA Muzik, and TV Southasia. But it is was nationalized on 23 May 2013.[1] Tara Newz was formally launched on 21 February 2005, the International Language Day.[2]

The interactive and talk shows get into what is happening in the spheres of health, education, technology beside dealing with women centric issues and Indo-Bengali relations.

Tara Newz was the first 24x7 Bengali news channel which was launched in the year 2005 on 21 February which also happens to be the International Mother Language day. Many TV networks followed Tara's footprints and launched Bengali language news channels one after another. It definitely brought competition, but Tara Newz, as a pioneer of the Bengali news channel genre continued all kinds of innovations and experiments with news production in an undaunted manner, which others just followed.
