Tamluk subdivision is a subdivision of the Purba Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Tamluk municipality, Panskura municipality and seven community development blocks: Nandakumar, Mayna, Tamluk, Shahid Matangini, Panskura–I, Panskura–II and Chandipur (Nandigram–III). The seven blocks contain 82 gram panchayats and five census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Tamluk.
Area
Apart from the Tamluk municipality and Panskura municipality, the subdivision contains five census towns and rural areas of 82 gram panchayats under seven community development blocks: Nandakumar, Mayna, Tamluk, Shahid Matangini, Panskura–I, Panskura–II and Chandipur (Nandigram–III).[1] The five census towns are: Goasafat, Dakshin Baguan, Kakdihi, Bahirgram and Uttar Latabari and Kolaghat.[2] Panskura municipality was established in 2001.[3]
Blocks
Nandakumar block
Rural area under Nandakumar block consists of 12 gram panchayats, viz. Byabattarhat Paschim, Bargodagodar, Kalyanpur, Seoraberia Jalpai–I, Basudevpur, Kumarara, Seoraberia Jalpai–II, Byabattarhat Purba, Chakshimulia, Kumarchak, Shitalpur Paschim and Dakshin Narikelda.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Nandakumar police station serves this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Nandakumar.[5]
Moyna block
Rural area under Moyna block consists of 11 gram panchayats, viz. Bakcha, Mayna–I, Naichanpur–II, Srikantha, Mayna–II, Paramanandapur, Tilkhoja, Gozina, Naichanpir–I and Ramchak.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Goasafat.[2] Moyna and Nandakumar police stations serve this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Mayna.[5]
Tamluk block
Rural area under Tamluk block consists of 12 gram panchayats, viz. Anantapur–I, Bishnubarh–II, Padumpur–II, Sreerampur–I, Anantapur–II, Nilkunthia, Pipulberia–I, Sreerampur–II, Bishnubarh–I, Padumpur–I, Pipulberia–II, Uttar Sonamui.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Dakshin Baguan.[2] Tamluk police station serves this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Naikuri.[5]
Shahid Matangini block
Rural area under Sahid Matangini block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Balluk–I, Kakharda, Raghunathpur–I, Shantipur–II, Balluk–II, Kharui–I, Raghunathpur–II, Dhalhara, Kharui–II and Shantipur–I.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Kakdihi.[2] Tamluk and Kolaghat police stations serve this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Burarihat.[5]
Panskura–I block
Rural area under Panskura–I block consists of 14 gram panchayats, viz. Chaitanyapur–I, Haur, Panskura–I, Radhaballavchak, Chaitanyapur–II, Keshapat, Pratappur–I, Raghunathbari, Ghoshpur, Khandakhola, Pratappur–II, Gobindanagar, Mysora and Purusottampur.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Bahirgram.[2] Panskura police station serves this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Panskura.[5]
Kolaghat (erstwhile Panskura–II block)
Rural area under Panskura–II block consists of 13 gram panchayats, viz. Amalhanda, Deriachak, Kola–II, Sidhha–II, Baishnabchak, Gopalnagar, Pulshita, Bhogpur,
Khanyadihi,
Sagarbarh, Brindabanchak, Kola–I and Siddha–I.[1] Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Kolaghat.[2] Panskura and Kolaghat police stations serve this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Kolaghat.[5]
Chandipur block
Rural area under Chandipur block, which is also known as Nandigram–III block,[6] consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Brajalalchak, Chaukhali, Jalpai, Osmanpur, Brindabanpur–I, Dibakarpur, Kulbari, Brindabanpur–II, Iswarpur and Nandapur Baraghuni.[1] There is no urban area under this block.[2] Chandipur police station serves this block.[4] Headquarters of this block is in Mathchandipur.[5]
Legislative segments
As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal:[7]
- The area under the Tamluk municipality, the Shahid Matangini block, and four gram panchayats under the Tamluk block — Bishnubarh–II, Pipulberia–I, Pipulberia–II and Uttar Sonamui — will form the Tamluk assembly constituency of West Bengal.
- The area under Panskura–I block will form the Panskura Paschim assembly constituency.
- The area under Panskura–II block will form the Panskura Purba assembly constituency.
- The Moyna block and five gram panchayats under the Tamluk block — Anantapur–I, Anantapur–II, Nilkunthia, Sreerampur–I and Sreerampur–II — will together form the area defining the Moyna assembly constituency.
- The Nandakumar block and three gram panchayats under the Tamluk block — Bishnubarh–I, Padumpur–I and Padumpur–II — will form the Nandakumar assembly constituency.
- The Chandipur block will be part of the area defining the Chandipur assembly constituency.
- The constituencies of Tamluk, Panskura Purba, Moyna and Nandakumar will be assembly segments of the Tamluk (Lok Sabha constituency).
- The Chandipur constituency will be an assembly segment of the Kanthi (Lok Sabha constituency).
- The Panskura Paschim constituency will be an assembly segment of the Ghatal (Lok Sabha constituency).
