The Taiping railway station (Malay: Stesen keretapi Taiping; Jawi: ستيسين کريتاڤي تايڤيڠ) is a Malaysian train station located at and named after the town of Taiping, Perak. It is the first railway station to be constructed in 1882.

The station is already rebuilt, however it is unknown whether it is to facilitate the electrified double track from Ipoh to Padang Besar.

History

The first version of Taiping railway station was in 1885 on where the King Edward VII Primary School now stands, it was relocated to the current mainline between the 1890s to early 1900s. The first station was officiated by Sir Hugh Low.[1][2] The station itself was also one of the stations of the initial Taiping to Port Weld (now Kuala Sepetang) railways until KTMB dismantled the rail line in the 1980s.
