Established in August 2007, Tahquitz High School (Taaa-Quits) is a high school of approximately 1600 students on the northwestern side of Hemet, California operated by the Hemet Unified School District. The high school's mascot is the Titan. Their school colors are green and gold. Their first graduating class was the class of 2010
Tahquitz High School is known to have an astronomical stadium built into the Tres Cerritos Hills.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team competed in CIF playoffs in their first year. They then went on to the win first round in their second year. The Boys Varsity Volleyball team also competed in CIF playoffs in 2009 hosting the first round in Tahquitz's own new gymnasium. In 2009 the Varsity Baseball team, led by Coach Ron Savage, made it all the way to the semi-finals in CIF before being defeated by Maranatha who went on to win the section title. Since then the baseball program has developed 3 players that have signed with Division I NCAA schools, produced 3 other players that have gone to play college baseball, and has won 2 league championships.
Tahquitz made headlines in 2010 with an avowal by the principal to lead the school district by using technology integration,[1] but to date those changes have not had an improvement on school wide academic performance. Their API, a measure of academic achievement in core subject areas has remained stagnant since 2010.[2]
Tahquitz is the fifth high school in the Hemet Unified School District.
