Tahoma School District

Tahoma School District is an educational organisation in Maple Valley, Washington, USA.

There is one high school, one junior high school, two middle schools, four elementary schools and a parent-partnered school. Tahoma High School is a Class AAAA school and is a member of the South Puget Sound League for sports and other activities.

Curriculum

The district states that it provides a quality learning environment for all students, including those with special needs and those who are qualified to participate in gifted education programs. Music, athletics and other extracurricular activities are available, too. The district has one full-service high school, Tahoma High School, and an alternative high school, Maple Valley High School. Glacier Park Elementary School was recently awarded the "School of Distinction" award from the State of Washington in the school year 2009-2010. Their roof was replaced that summer. Their schools are Glacier Park Elementary School, Rock Creek Elementary School, Lake Wilderness Elementary School,Shadow Lake Elementary School, Cedar River Middle School, Tahoma Middle School, Tahoma Jr. High School, and Tahoma High School.

Construction

In 2005, the district completed its construction and remodeling program that began with passage of the 1997 construction bond measure. The $45.5 million bond measure, combined with state matching funds and local construction impact fees, paid for: Tahoma High School remodeling and expansion; Tahoma Junior High construction; Shadow Lake Elementary School remodeling and expansion; Cedar River Middle School expansion; Tahoma Middle School renovation; and computer purchases.
