Tahereh Mafi (born in 1988) is a New York Times and USA Today best selling author. Shatter Me was her first novel and was published on November 15, 2011. Since that point Unravel Me (published on February 5, 2013) and Ignite Me (published on February 4, 2014) have been published. She also has two e-books that go with the Shatter Me series, Destroy Me and Fracture Me.[1] Film rights to Shatter Me have been purchased by 20th Century Fox films.[2]

Personal life

Mafi was born in a small town in Connecticut and is the youngest child of her family and has four older brothers.[3] Her parents were immigrants from Iran.[2]

Mafi graduated from University High School in Irvine, California. She later graduated from Soka University in Aliso Viejo, California.[2] She has varying levels of competency in eight different languages. She studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain for a semester in college. During this trip she had the opportunity to be fully immersed in the Spanish language.[3]

She currently resides in Santa Monica, California, where she continues to write.[1] She is married to author, Ransom Riggs.[1]
