Woo Taewoon (Hangul: 우태운; born on May 11, 1990 in Mapo, Seoul, South Korea), born Woo Jiseok (Hangul: 우지석), is a singer, rapper, dancer, actor and record producer. He is a former leader of the South Korean Boy group Speed and former member of the South Korean Coed group Coed School
Biography
Taewoon lived in Japan for 3 years and studied at Tokyo Polytechnic University. He and his younger brother Zico were both trainees for Block B, but Taewoon left to debut with Coed School on September 29, 2010.
Music career
Coed School (2010)
On September 29, 2010 Taewoon made his debut as a member of Coed School with release their single "Too Late".
SPEED (2012 to 2015)
Speed first released their male cover of T-ara's single "Lovey Dovey," which they titled "Lovey Dovey Plus.".[1] Taewoon then became the leader of Coed School's subgroup Speed.
They made their official debut on January 17, 2013, with the song "It's Over". The 15-minute drama music video for their debut track is based on the Gwangju May 18 massacres and features actors such as Park Bo-young, Ji Chang-wook, Ha Seok-jin and A Pink's Naeun.[2][3][4] "It's Over" has an R&B strong Introduction, which is an electronic dance song when its arrangement stands out. Away from the regular repetitive dance songs, there is a start and end to it. The song is good to listen to, with it having a very firm melody line with semi-retro sound.[5][6]
On March 2015, MBK Entertainment announced Taewoon left the group to begin a solo career.
Solo activities
On December 2012, Taewoon released a solo track called "'Saturday Night'".[7]
On October 2013, Taewoon and Sejoon went to Los Angeles to meet with Ray J and other rappers in order to record a new song and music video.[8]
Taewoon has a rapper group called "Royal Class", the members are himself, Roydo, Chancey The Glow, Sims of M.I.B, Konquest, Kitti B and Mino from WINNER.
Producer work
On February 2014, Speed released a comeback album produced by Taewoon, Speed Circus,[9] as well as two Music Videos: "Why I'm Not" and "Don't Tease Me".[10] In the same month, Taewoon released another solo track entitled "Focus".[11]
Solo career
After Taewoon decided to SPEED out of the group, to start a solo music career. He will begin his solo career by performing at Mnet program, 'Show Me the Money' Season 4
