Thandavarayapuram Ramaswami Pachamuthu (better known as T. R. Pachamuthu) is an Indian educationalist, philanthropist and politician best known as the founder and chancellor of SRM University.[1] He was born in Thandavarayapuram, Attur on 24 August 1941. He comes from the Tamil Nadu community of Parkavakulam.[2] He is also the founder of the political party - Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi(IJK). And he is also the founder of The New Generation Media Corporation (Puthiya Thalaimurai Magazine & Puthiya Thalaimurai TV).
Honours
On 19 February 2010, Pachamuthu was awarded with an honorary doctorate (honoris causa) from Birmingham City University for his work in the field of "engineering and technology education".[3] Pachamuthu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics,[2][4] and is a qualified chartered engineer.[2] Pachamuthu is an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers.[5]
