The Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Chanda is an Eastern Catholic eparchy of the East Syrian Rite Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, located in India. It was created in 1977 by the Bull 'Nostra Ipsorum’ of Pope Paul VI, Januarius Palathuruthy CMI became the first bishop. On Thursday, 31 July 2014, Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Bishop Mar Vijay Anand Nedumpuram, and appointed Mar Ephrem Nariculam of the Syro-Malabar Archeparchy of Ernakulam-Angamaly, who until now had been serving as Chaplain of the Syro-Malabar Community in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and also as Coordinator of Priestly Formation at a Seminary and as a Lecturer in Theology in the city.[1]
