Parliamentary elections were held in Syria on 7 July 1947, with a second round in some constituencies on 18 July.[1] They were the first elections since official indepdendence in 1946. In the parliament of 127-seats, only 24 went to President Shukri al-Quwatli's National Party, 50 to independents, and 53 to a combination of opposition elements, including 33 for the People's Party.
