Sylhet International University (SIU) is a private university located at Shamimabad, Bagbari Sylhet, Bangladesh. It was established under The Private University Act of 1992.^[1] SIU is affiliated with University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The first Vice Chancellor was Dr. Sadruddin Ahmed Chawdhury, former president of Bangladesh Physical Society (1995-1996) and first Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. The current Vice Chancellor is Professor Dr. Susanta kumar Das.

The university commenced its first academic session in October 2001.
