Swissotel Makkah

Swissotel Makkah is a 5-star luxury hotel in Makkah, also known as Mecca and is considered a holy city in Saudi Arabia. The hotel is a part of the Swissotel brand, which falls under the Fairmont Hotel and Resorts umbrella. It is the first Swissotel property in both Saudi Arabia and all of the Middle East. It is attached to the Abraj Al Bait complex and overlooks the Kaaba and holy Masjib Al Haraam. It is also the only hotel in Mecca to have a direct entrance through Ajyad Street. The hotel has 43 floors and features 1,487 rooms and suites, and 4 restaurants.

History The hotel was built in 2009 and opened in August 2012. Both the exterior and interior of the hotel were designed by Areen Hospitality, a London based firm.^[1] The hotel’s main shareholders include Kingdom Hotels International and Colony Capital LLC. The hotel attracts many Muslim pilgrims due to its proximity to the holy Ka’aba, which is the destination of the annual Muslim holiday of Hajj. The hotel is also a part of the King Adbul Aziz Endowment which aimed to modernize the city to cater to pilgrims traveling to Mecca. Swissotel Makkah is the largest Swissotel property to date and the 1st Swissotel property to be constructed in Saudi Arabia. The hotel is also unique for its direct access to the Grand Mosque.

• Al Ruwad – One of the largest restaurants in the world and can accommodate over 2,500 people. It offers traditional Arab dishes and international cuisine
• Al-Ruwad Tea Lounge –A hotel lounge offering tea, coffee, and small pastries.
• In-Room Dining – Guests of the hotel can order traditional Arabic or western cuisine to their guest rooms.
