Swindon Arts Centre

Swindon Arts Centre is a 200-seat entertainment venue located in the Old Town area of Swindon, Wiltshire, England.[1]

The centre features all types of music, professional and amateur theatre, nationally recognised comedians, films, children's events, and one-man shows.[2]

The Arts Centre hosts festivals and series such as the One Act Play Festival, and Swindon Music Festival, and the Swindon Recital Series of classical music concerts. The Swindon Film Society shows British and international films at the centre.[1]

From 1 April 2014 Swindon Borough Council passed management of the venue to HQ Theatres & Hospitality on a ten year contract who also manages the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon.[3]

Refurbishments

The Swindon Arts Centre reopened in January 2003 following its refurbishment. Improvements included the addition of a lift in the new entrance foyer to give easy access to the auditorium on the first floor, new accessible toilets and new seats in the auditorium.

In 2010 the venue underwent a major refurbishment. The ground floor was completely redesigned to create a new performance studio, bar & cafe and the refurbishment also made room for the Swindon Old Town public library to relocate in to the building.

Patron

In November 2010 television personality Richard Digance became the first ever Patron of the venue.
