Sweetwater Independent School District
Sweetwater Independent School District is a public school district based in Sweetwater, Texas (USA).
Located in Nolan County, the district extends into a portion of Fisher County.
ABOUT SWEETWATER ISD:
The Sweetwater Independent School District serves approximately 2,253 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 on six campuses: high school, middle school, intermediate school, two elementary schools, and an early childhood center.
Sweetwater ISD is also the fiscal agent for a nine-member school special education shared service arrangement. In Sweetwater, excellence is not only a goal, it is a standard. Students have opportunities to participate in UIL academic competitions. The fine arts program enjoys outstanding successes, especially in band and choral music. In athletics, teams consistently excel in football, basketball, baseball, track, softball, power lifting, volleyball, golf, and tennis.

- Willie Amos, CFL player of the Edmonton Eskimos
- Temple Dickson, a Sweetwater attorney who served in both houses of the Texas State Legislature, graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1953.
- Charles Perry, an incoming Republican member of the Texas House from Lubbock, graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1980.
- Rupert N. Richardson, a Texas historian and later president of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, was principal of Sweetwater High School from 1916-1917, when he resigned the position to enter World War I.[1]
- Sammy Baugh, Known as Slingin Sammy Baugh, played for the Sweetwater Mustangs(quarter back), also played for TCU, (Texas Christian University). Played for the Washington Redskins(1937-1952). ACHIEVEMENTS: Pro Football Hall of Fame(1963), College Football Hall of Fame(1951), 5x All Star selection(1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942), Probowl selection (1951), 7X First-Team All-Pro selection (1937, 1940, 1942, 1943, 1945, 1947, 1948), 2x Second-Team All-Pro selection(1938, 1941), 2x NFL player of the year(1947, 1948), (NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team), (NFL 1940's All-Decade Team),(1937 Cotton Bowl Classic MVP), (70 Greatest Redskins), (Redskins Ring Hall of Fame), (Washington Redskins #33 retired), (Sweetwater Mustangs #11 retired)
