Swan Transit (stylised as sWAn Transit) is an Australian bus company operating services in Perth under contract to Transperth. It is a subsidiary of Transit Systems.

History

On 21 January 1996 Swan Transit commenced operating services in the Midland area with 43 buses.[1][2]

On 29 September 1996 Swan Transit commenced operating services in the Canning Vale and Southern River areas from depots in Canning Vale and Gosnells with 119 Mercedes-Benz and Renault buses.[3][4][5]

In January 1998 Swan Transit gained further services in the Armadale South and Kalamunda areas.[6][7]

Swan Transit Riverside

One of Swan Transit's contracts was allocated to a division called Swan Transit Riverside. It covers the areas near the Swan River, from Belmont to Fremantle. Bus services in this contract area were previously operated by Perth Bus (Connex). Swan Transit Riverside has now merged with Swan Transit's main operations.

2011 Expansion

In May 2011 Swan Transit commenced an eight-year contract to operate services in the Marmion contract area. The Marmion contract area includes Karrinyup depot which was operated by Path Transit. As at December 2013 Swan Transit operated the Canning, Claremont, Marmion, Midland and Southern River area contracts.[8][9]

TransBunbury & TransBusselton

In January 2015, Swan Transit commenced operating 10 year contracts to operate services in Bunbury and Busselton under the TransBunbury and TransBusselton brands.[10][11]

Fleet

As at October 2013 the fleet consisted of 504 buses.[12]

Depots

Swan Transit operate eight depots in Beckenham, Canning Vale, Ellenbrook, Jarrahdale. Karrinyup, Midvale, Mundaring and Southern River.
