Susan Taubes

Susan Taubes (1928-1969) was the wife of Jacob Taubes. She was a student of Jacob at Harvard during the 1950s, and the couple both taught religion at Columbia University 1960-1969. They had two children.

In the year 1969, she had her first novel "Divorcing" published, but she died shortly thereafter.[1]

Susan committed suicide in 1969 by drowning herself off Long Island. Susan Sontag identified the body. (from p. 108 of "Susan Sontag: As Consciousness is Harnessed to Flesh: Journals and Notebooks 1964-1980," edited by[Sontag's son] David Rieff (2012).
