Surana and Surana International Attorneys is among the top national law firms in India with over 70 lawyers and consultants. Surana & Surana’s journey started in 1971 when co-founders PS Surana & Leela Surana set up practice. It is the largest and best law firm in South India and ranked among the top law firms in India.[1] In 2009, they moved into a modern six storey building in Chennai's central business district. The firm was the World’s first ISO 14001 & SA 8000 (2004) certified law firm and Asia’s first ISO 9002 certified law firm (1998).[2][3]

Surana and Surana also hosts the Surana and Surana Moots, which is among the oldest, largest, and most prestigious moot court project in India open to students from India & SAARC countries (for international moots). Since the mid-90's every year the law firm Surana and Surana International Attorneys[1], have hosted, administered & sponsored over a hundred moot court competitions in partnership with India's leading law schools.

International Presence & Contribution to Industry

The firm has international professional affiliations with International Business Law Consortium and MSI Global Alliance giving the firm access to expertise across the world. They are known for their contribution to industry & society and have been recommended by various Chambers of Association and Consulates including the American Consulate in Chennai.[4] In 1987 they got their first international case to represent a large Indian exporter in a dispute before an Italian court. They have continued to built their international presence and were ranked among the top 10 Law Firms in India by Legal Business, UK.

Till date they have led many delegations to Caribbean & South America covering countries like Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay. They have supported the San Luis Government in Argentina to set up a trade office in their premise to help bilateral trade between both regions. The center was inaugurated by the Governor of Tamil Nadu in the presence of San Luis' Minister of Industry, Trade, Transport and Mining, Walter Padula.[5][6]

Along with Confederation of Indian Industry, they released a study on Indo-Latin America and Caribbean Economic Relations in 2009.[7] In 2009, they also released a report titled “Argentina & India: Strategic Partners in Industry and Business” in the presence of R. Viswanathan, Ambassador of India to Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.[8] In 2010 they launched a report titled ‘Uruguay India - a report on trade and investment’.[9]
