Supriya Pathak Kapur (born 7 January 1961) is an Indian actress.

In the early stages of her career, she acted in theatre, before making her debut in 1981 Kalyug, for which she won her first Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. Later, rose to prominence and received critical reviews for her role in 1982 Bazaar and the 2013 tragedy Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela, which won her two Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Awards. In 1988, Pathak appeared on a French venture, The Bengali Night, and in the film Shahenshah. In early 2000s, she acted in the comedy series Khichdi (2002–04) and garnered positive reviews for her portrayal of "Hansa Parekh", and also won the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Comic Role in 2003 and 2005.

She is the daughter of actress Dina Pathak and in 1986, she married actor-director Pankaj Kapur.

Career

Supriya began her career with the 1981 film Kalyug which was followed by roles in many more films including Vijeta (1982), Bazaar (1982), Masoom (1983) and Mirch Masala (1985). She also had a minor role the biopic Gandhi (1982) and starred in the 1988 French film The Bengali Night and in Raakh . She'd starred in Tinnu Anand's film Shahenshah (1988 film). In the early 1990s, she took a long break from acting in films but appeared in several television series. After an 11-year hiatus from acting, she starred in the 2005 film Sarkar, following which she also worked in some other films, including the 2009 film Wake Up Sid. She played the role of Hansa Praful Parekh in the TV Series Khichdi. She also played the role of female antagonist, "Umaben Borisagar", in Sony TV's Chhanchhan.[1] She also acted in Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (2013). She won the Filmfare Award 2013 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role
