Superfruit, often stylized as SUP3RFRUIT, is a comedy YouTube web show[1] by Mitch Grassi[2] and Scott Hoying,[3] most well known as members of the Grammy Award-winning a cappella group Pentatonix; while mainly focused on humor, the show also sometimes features vocal performances by Hoying and Grassi.[4] As of December 23, 2014,[5] the channel has over 1,000,000 subscribers[6] and well over 95,000,000 views.[7]
Formation
According to Grassi, "[Scott Hoying and I] were at IHOP one day and both discussed how we wanted to individually start [YouTube] channels. [Then] we were [like, 'Why don't we just do it together?']"[8] According to Scott Hoying, the name Superfruit "[came from Mitch's] random mind".[9] The first Superfruit video was released on August 13, 2013.[10]

The 'Weekly Obsessions' segment began from the first Superfruit episode and has continued ever since. They usually consist of items that Mitch or Scott have recently purchased, and are often items of clothing. In the Superfruit Comment and Stupidfruit Comment, inspired by YouTuber Grace Helbig's previous channel, DailyGrace, featured a number of comments on the last week's video, which were commented on by Mitch and Scott. It featured one positive and one negative comment. This segment was discontinued after the episode "HEADS UP!". In the eighth episode of their web show, Superfruit began making weekly song suggestions. They entitled this segment 'Hey everyone!
