The discography of Japanese musical act Superfly consists of four studio albums, two compilation albums, two extended plays, five video albums and twenty-one singles. Superfly began as a musical unit formed in 2004 by vocalist Shiho Ochi and guitarist Koichi Tabo, during with Warner Music Japan in 2007. Tabo removed himself from the band's line-up in 2007 during promotional activities for their single "I Spy I Spy", finding it difficult to work as both the band's songwriter and guitarist.[1][2] Tabo remained attached to Superfly, composing and producing songs for the unit.
The band's song "Ai o Komete Hanataba o" (2008) was chosen to be the theme song for the Misaki Ito-starring drama Edison no Haha, and became extremely successful, becoming certified Million for digital downloads by the RIAJ.[3][4] The band's debut album Superfly (2008) debuted at number one on Oricon's albums chart.[5]
Since Superfly debuted in 2007, the unit has been successful, having six albums reach number one in Japan.[5] Other than "Ai o Komete Hanataba o", the band's most commercially successful songs include "Alright!!" (2009), the opening theme song for the drama Boss,[6] and "Tamashii Revolution" (2010), a song used by NHK during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and other soccer broadcasts.[7] Both of these songs have been certified Platinum twice by the RIAJ.[4][8][9]
