It was built on a plot of land measuring approximately 14.3 acres located at Jalan Kota Raja, which is about a half mile from the town of Klang. The college was originally a palace which was later donated by Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj, the son of the late Sultan Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah. He is hoping that the college is to produce scholars who fear Allah and this in turn illuminates the Malaysian society with spirits of Islam and to eliminate all forms of unbelief and ignorance there. In 1386 AH/1966, the High Certificate Islamic Colleges have moved to a new building in Petaling Jaya (now the School Preparation of International Islamic University Malaysia) and on to Bangi become Faculty of Islamic Studies, Malaysia. Yet still continued his preparation courses in Klang. In 1967, the college was taken by the Ministry of Education and make a government-aided schools named Kolej Islam Klang (KIK), Klang Islamic College. Finally, in 1972, it was turned into a fully residential school with great facilities until nowadays. Then in 1989, Klang Islamic College was renamed Kolej Islam Sultan Alam Shah Sultan (KISAS) by Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj Hisamuddin, son of the late Sultan Alam Shah, the Sultan of Selangor at the time. Until now, the former sultan's palace still stands.
