Sugauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: सुगौली विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Purvi Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Overview
As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 11. Sugauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Sugauli and Ramgarhwa community development blocks.[1]
Sugauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of 2. Paschim Champaran (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]It was earlier part of Bettiah (Lok Sabha constituency).
Election results
1977-2010
In the November 2010 and October 2005 state assembly elections, Ramchandra Sahni of BJP won the 11 Sugauli assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Vijay Prasad Gupta of RJD. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Vijay Prasad Gupta of RJD defeated Ramashray Singh of CPI(M) in February 2005 and 2000. Chandra Sekhar Dwivedi, Independent, defeated Ramashray Singh of CPI(M) in 1995. Ramashray Singh of CPI(M) defeated Ashok Kumar Mishra of Congress in 1990. Suresh Kumar Mishra of Congress defeated Ramashay Singh of CPI(M) in 1985. Ramashray Singh of CPI(M) defeated Suresh Kumar Mishra of Congress in 1980 and Bhupnarain Singh of CPI in 1977.[2][3]
