Stressed Out is a song is a song written and recorded by American alternative rock band Twenty One Pilots for their fourth studio album, Blurryface. "Stressed Out" was released on YouTube worldwide on April 28, 2015,[1] being released as a single on Google Play Store on the same day.[2] The video was directed by Mark C. Eshleman (Reel Bear Media).[1]
Background
The song focuses on nostalgia for childhood, the pressure of adulthood,[3] and family relationships, and speaks from the point of view of "Blurryface", the album's titular character.[4][5] The line "My name's Blurryface, and I care what you think"[6] is heard throughout the song, alluding to marketing the duo did for the album.[7]
