Stowaways

Stowaways are a Portuguese band from Matosinhos, formed in 2001. The band is made up of Nuno Sousa (vocals and guitar); Pedro Gonçalves (guitar); João Carujo, (drums)and Sérgio Seabra (bass). Fred on keyboards and João Covita on the accordion are more recent additions.

In 2002 Stowaways were the winner of the 8th edition of the Termómetro Unplugged competition. They then went on to record "Amputated Leg" which was produced by Joe Fossard. This song then featured in the “Pop Up Songs 2002” compilation, launched by Metrodiscos. They also took part in the bl007 compilation, released in 2003 by the independent label Bor Land, with the song "We Love Our Guns". In November 2003 they released a split 2CD with fellow artist Alla Polacca through Bor Land, showcasing 8 songs, two of which were produced by Mário Barreiros [1] Stowaways has been playing in various places all over the country, notably the festival Super Bock Super Rock in 2002, where they featured as part of the 'Super New Bands' stage, the Vilar de Mouros Festival (2002 and 2004), “Festival do Tejo” and Paredes de Coura Festival. More recently Stowaways were part of the line-up for the Carviçais Rock Festival in 2003. In September 2002 Stowaways appeared on the Festival 'PLAY' which commemorated another anniversary of the television show “Curto-circuito” which was broadcast live on cable television. And in 2003 they took part in a project with Loto which resulted in a live performance on Antena 3.

Recording for their second album 'HuntClub' began in March 2005 and was completed in January 2006. This was produced by Stowaways and edited by Stowaways and Nelson Carvalho. It was overseen by Nelson Carvalho in MB Studios, and edited by the Transformadores in October 2006.
