Storm Calysta (born Shannon Behm on February 23, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois, is an American electronic indie musician, singer, and songwriter.[2]
Early life
She was born as Shannon Behm near Chicago, Illinois [2] and primarily grew up there before moving to San Antonio, Texas in 2013. She is the youngest of five children in her family.
Music career
Beginnings
Calysta started out performing in cafes, restaurants, bars & fairs as an acoustic act at age 15.[3] In 2010, Calysta was an opener at The Bamboozle Road Show,[3] the show also featured bands such as All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, Third Eye Blind, The Ready Set, Hellogoodbye, Forever The Sickest Kids & Stereo Skyline.[3]
After Bamboozle, Calysta continued opening for national & local acts at music venues.
2012-present
In 2012 Calysta started to become more well known for her live streams featured on Stickam.com. Around this time Calysta decided to start making electronic music & began going by her stage name, Storm Calysta.
In June 2012, Calysta toured the Midwest and southern states of the United States with pop-punk group We Are Forever. Later that summer, she went on an acoustic tour through the South, performing at venues such as the House of Blues in New Orleans, Louisiana.
After spending so much time touring the southern states, Calysta moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2013 to help further her career. Soon after her move to Texas, she began recording her single "Hero" at The Recording Conservatory of Austin with producer Jacob Valdez. "Hero" was released in early 2014.[4] Later that year, she released another single called "Reality Lies" featuring electronic artist, Trip the Light. [5]
