Steven Léo Shanahan (born September 16, 1970), better known as Steve Shanahan, is a politician in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has served on the Montreal City Council since November 2013 as a member of Vrai changement pour Montréal.
Early life and career
Shanahan was born in Sherbrooke.[1] His campaign literature indicates that he is a marketing consultant with a bachelor's degree in administration from Bishop's University.[2]
City councillor
Shanahan was elected to Montreal city council for the Peter-McGill division in the 2013 municipal election, winning a somewhat unexpected victory over star candidate Damien Silès from Équipe Denis Coderre pour Montréal.[3] During the campaign, Shanahan promised to fight for a French-language school his the district.[4] Coderre's party won the election, and Shanahan currently sits as an opposition member.
By virtue of serving on city council, Shanahan is also a member of the Ville-Marie borough council.
