Steven Broad (born 1986) is an New Zealand singer from Christchurch, who is currently competing on the second season of The X Factor (New Zealand). He is mostly known for placing third on the second series of NZ Idol.
Early life
Broad was born in Invercargill in 1986.
Before auditioning on The X Factor, he had previously appeared on series two of NZ Idol in 2005, where he placed third. He also appeared on celebrity singing show Pop's Ultimate Star in 2007, where he placed eighth.Born 29 January 1986 in Invercargill to Anne and Michael Broad, another graduate of James Hargest College. In 2003 he took on the lead role of Tommy Albright in the school's production of 'Brigadoon'. This role earned him the respect of many in the show business industry, including Mr Jonathan Tucker, and Bob Marley’s former backup singer, Maxine Treweek. He used to work for the H&J Smith’s company, specifically in the Uproar store. Nowadays, he studies Politics at the University of Auckland and currently does not plan on furthering his singing career. He once raised money for World Vision by living in the H&J’s department store display window for 40 hours. He was successful in raising money, but unfortunately has stayed out of the spotlight since. He once had a terrible netball accident where he broke his leg. He now has a titanium rod in that leg. He was a school teacher before his audition.

Broad competed on Pop's Ultimate Star, where he came in 8th place.
The X Factor
Broad attended the pre-auditions in Dunedin in October 2014 and advanced though to the judges auditions. Broad performed "Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake at his audition and received positive feedback from all four judges. He is currently part of the Top 6.
