Staverton, Wiltshire

Staverton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Wiltshire.

Staverton is near the confluence of the River Avon and the River Biss and is on the south bank of the former; to the south of the village is the Kennet and Avon Canal and a marina serves the canal communities. Staverton is some three miles north of the county town of Trowbridge and three miles east of Bradford-on-Avon. Administratively, Staverton forms part of the Wiltshire Council area. Staverton is now expanding, with new houses and apartments built around the marina area. The population of the parish taken at the 2011 census was 1,868.[1]

Staverton Church of England Primary School was built in the 1990s, replacing a Victorian school building which is now used by an independent school. Staverton School has a pupil roll of 240 pupils aged between 4 and 11 set in 9 classes. The school is popular in the local community and takes pupils from a wide catchment area. The facilities include a large car park, two hard surfaced play areas with attractive play areas, a nature area, school library, ICT suite and shared school field with a pavilion and tennis courts. In the summer of 2013, the school was enlarged and can now accommodate up to 310 pupils in 11 classrooms Staverton CE VC Primary School, Wiltshire

Staverton is known for being the location of a Nestlé breakfast cereal factory, now named for 'CPUK' (Cereal Partners UK). The large, landmark chimney at the factory was removed in November 2011,[2] though it could be seen from both the smaller Tannery Chimney in Holt and the larger Lafarge Cement Works Chimney near Westbury.
