The State University of Malang (Indonesian: Universitas Negeri Malang, abbreviated as UM), formerly the Institute of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences of Malang (Indonesian: Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Malang, abbreviated as IKIP Malang), is one of the state universities in Indonesia. Located in Malang and Blitar, East Java, UM was established in October 18, 1954 as PTPG Malang, making it one of the oldest teaching institutes in Indonesia.[1] In 1999, IKIP Malang changed its status from an institute to a state university. UM is the best teaching institute in Indonesia. UM is top 50 university in Indonesia based on Higher Degree Education Institution in Indonesia (DIKTI). UM also ranked 6 the best university in Indonesia by Webometrics in 2010, but only ranked 16 in 2015.

In addition, State University of Malang get A in terms University Accreditation, with other 10 university in Indonesia. Their score is 372, only under UGM (378) and IPB (375)
