Starlock

Starlock is a French comic book character created by writer Claude J. Legrand and artist Luciano Bernasconi for French publisher Editions Lug in 1990.

Starlock is an alien who was trapped on Mars in an alien capsule. Released by astronaut Nick Thaler, Starlock takes over Thaler's body and returns to Earth. There, his super-strength, invulnerability and other powers attract the attention of both the American and Russian military. Starlock is later captured by the villainess Tarantula.

Seven episodes of Starlock were originally published in the digest size magazine Mustang in 1990. The series ended on a cliffhanger.

The character returned in 2002 in Special-Zembla No. 1, which rebealed how the forces of C.L.A.S.H. freed Starlock from the clutches of the Tarantula. At the behest of C.L.A.S.H., the character then fought Homicron, before joining the super-team of Strangers, in the eponymous comic-book series, written by Jean-Marc Lofficier.

There, it was revealed that Starlock had been one of the guardians of the Starbridge, a giant, artificial wormhole linking galaxies together, built by unfathomable cosmic entities called the Towers. Having betrayed his masters, Starlock was imprisoned on Mars. Starlock's last appearance was in Yuma No. 10 in 2003.

Starlock is now part of Hexagon Comics which published a trade paperback collection of his adventures translated into English in 2009.
