Stanley "Stan" J. Powell (19 July 1916[1] — January 1995 (aged 7879)) born in Risca, was a rugby union and professional rugby league footballer of the 1930s, '40s and '50s playing club level rugby union (RU) for Cilfynydd RFC in the Backs, and playing representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and Lancashire, and at club level for St. Helens, Belle Vue Rangers (twice), and Warrington, as a Fullback, Wing, Centre, Stand-off/Five-eighth, or Scrum-half/Halfback, i.e. number 1, 2 or 5, 3 or 4, 6, or 7, he died in Southport.[2]

Playing career

International honours

Powell won caps for Wales (RL) while at St. Helens against England at Central Park, Wigan during March 1945, and while at Warrington in 1947.[3]

Rugby Football League Championship final appearances

Stan Powell played Left-Wing, i.e. number 5 in Warrington's 15-5 victory over Bradford Northern in the 1947-48 Rugby Football League Championship final at Maine Road, Manchester.[4]
