Stanley Gareld Ellis (born January 22, 1947) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2006.
Biography
Ellis was serving as an area seventy when he was appointed a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy of the LDS Church on April 1, 2006. He served from 2006 to 2010 as a counselor in the church's Brazil North and Brazil Areas. He was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy on March 31, 2012 and currently has assignments at church headquarters.
Ellis served previously in the church as a full-time missionary in the Brazilian Mission, as president of the Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission (1999–2002), stake president, counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, counselor in a bishopric, elders quorum president, and ward and stake Young Men president.
Ellis graduated from Harvard University in government and received a law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. He worked in law and finance and later became chief executive officer of a financial consulting company.
On June 7, 1969, Ellis married Kathryn Kloepfer in the Los Angeles Temple and they are the parents of nine children.
