Stacy Poitras is an American sculptor who is featured in Country Music Television's reality television show Chainsaw Gang. He is owner of a company called Deadwood Tree Sculptures in California.[1] He principally creates large wooden sculptures using chainsaws.

Early life and education

Poitras grew up in Plymouth, Massachusetts, graduating with the Plymouth High School Class of 1985.[2] His talent in the arts was recognized as early as second grade when, according to Poitras, he began selling drawings of dinosaurs and other things to his classmates.[3]

He attended the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts[3] for two and one-half years.[1] He majored in painting there but became intrigued with chainsaw sculpting after seeing a man doing it on the side of a road.

Career

Chainsaw Gang debuted on November 9, 2012 as part of an initial 10 show series[4] billed as "Stacy Poitras leads a rag-tag bunch of the country’s premiere chainsaw artists who battle blades breaking, chainsaws bursting into flames and agitating each other as they manage to deliver incredible works of art—and a really good time."

Personal life

In December 2012 Poitras announced his engagement to his long-time girlfriend Alison Eastwood.[5][6] The couple was married in March 2013.[7] She has also been featured on the reality TV series Chainsaw Gang as the sculptor's girlfriend.
