St Patrick's College is a private for-profit[1] business school based in London, United Kingdom.[2] St Patrick's offers Higher National Diploma programmes in management, finance, Health and Social Care and Hospitality.

St Patrick's is based in Holborn, with two campuses in the City and at Stratfordcentral London. In addition the school has campuses in Manchester and Birmingham, United Kingdom.[3]

History

St Patrick's College began as a school in 1803 for the poor of St Giles' Parish with the backing of St Patrick's Church. After the Catholic Primary School closed, the Catholic Church continued to run St Patrick's as a Language School teaching English. In 1998 it changed hands and the College soon started to teach diplomas and degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in Law, Business, Hospitality, Computing and Health & Social Care.

By 2013, following a change on government policy designed to widen access to higher education by allowing student loans for private colleges, the demand for places soared so much that it moved from Soho to Holborn.[4][5] St. Patrick's has a new campus with extensive facilities in Stratford [6] In 2013 the government suspended the college's, along with 22 other colleges, designation for receiving student loan funding after an £80 million overspend on student loans at private providers.[7]

On 26 February 2015 the college was subject to a critical BBC Face the Facts radio programme, which aired allegations that the college offered a poor learning environment with large classes and over-crowding.[8]
