St James Power Station
St James Power Station (Chinese: 圣占姆士发电厂; pinyin: Shèngzhànmǔshì Fādiànchǎng) is a music and nightlife venue in the HarbourFront area of the Bukit Merah Planning Area, Singapore, near VivoCity.
History
Built in 1926, it was Singapore's first coal-fired power plant supplying electricity to nearby shipyards, industry and residences.
Outlets
St James Power Station has 11 nightclubs and live entertainment destinations rivaling the Zirca at Clarke Quay and Zouk, with 70,000 sq ft (6,500 m2) of floor space. Customers need only pay one charge to gain access to all outlets.
- Dragonfly, specializing in Mandopop with live band performances backed by a professional, concert standard audiovisual set up.
- Mono, a karaoke bar with individual private rooms and also a main hall with a pool table.
- Movida, showcasing Latin music by a nine-piece band from Paraguay.
- Bellini Room, a jazz and swing destination with the Bellini Room House Band.
- Gallery Bar, a bar lounge on level 2 overlooking Dragonfly, Movida, Powerhouse and The Boiler Room on the ground floor.
- Peppermint Park, an outdoor bar to get away from city bustle.
- The Boiler Room, high energy live band performances, for rock, R&B and pop.
- The Lobby, a bar connecting all the other clubs, featuring live band acts every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and sports screenings.
- Powerhouse, the largest outlet with DJs who spin R&B and Hip-hop music, catering to the young crowd.
- The New Paper Sports Bar (collaboration with The New Paper), sports screenings on 12 40-inch (100 cm) LCD TVs all on the same wall.
- St James Wine Bar & Bistro, features an al fresco area, and over 50 international wine labels. It serves supper till 3:00 am on weekdays and 4:00 am on weekends.
