St. John's High School - Ranchi is a school located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India.

History

The School was founded in 1887 & the school was named the following year after Saint John Berchmans, a young Belgian Jesuits who had been canonised in Rome that year. The Schools are run by the Jesuits, a religious order of the Catholic church, and was initially set up to provide education to tribal and poor students.

The language of instruction is Hindi. The school is affiliated with the Jharkhand School Examination Board for Class 10 examinations.

The school is situated on Purulia Road (Ranchi), and educates pupils from class 7 to class 10. Pupils of classes 1 to 6 are taught at St. John's Middle School, which is located in the same campus and monitored by the same management.

It is one of the oldest schools in the entire region and the school celebrated its centenary in 1989-90, with a year long celebration which was attended by the Chief Minister of the state and hundreds of alumni. The event witnessed a host of celebrations throughout the year & all teachers & students participated in celebrating the glorious 100 years of the school.

St. John's High School has a sister institution, St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, which is on an adjacent campus & has a vibrant & successful alumni spread across the globe.
