St. Columba's Catholic Primary School is a school for pupils aged 4–11, in Rednal, Birmingham.It is a reasonably small school, and there is one class per year, consisting of up to 30 pupils.
School day
Subjects taught at the school include Literacy (English), Numeracy (Maths), Religious Education, Hymn practice, Music, Art, Geography, Science, Physical Education and History. The school day starts at 9:00 and pupils can start to arrive from 8:45. The school day is broken up by a 15-minute break in the morning and an hour lunch break and ends at 3:30pm, except Fridays when it finishes at 3:15pm. There is an assembly once a week, a mass on Thursday mornings and a 'Special Mentions Assembly' on Fridays in which certificates and house point awards are given. There are separate playgrounds, for the infant half of the school, and the juniors. There are also two pirate trails, a pirate ship, benches and small huts to sit in. In sunny weather pupils are allowed to play on the grass.
Further education
St. Columba's does not have a secondary school so most Year 6 pupils continue their education at Colmers, St. Thomas Aquinas and Turves Green, although some pupils have previously gone to Dame Elizabeth, Bournville School, Priory School, King Edwards Five ways and King Edwards VI High School.
Location
The school is located in Rednal opposite what used to be the Rover Plant, and near Longbridge Island and the New Bournville College.
