St. Anselm Catholic School (SACS, St. Anselm) is a coeducational, Catholic, elementary school in the south of Toronto, Ontario. It was named after the philosopher and theologian of Canterbury, Saint Anselm.[1]
St. Anselm is a feeder school for Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School
History
St. Anselm's Catholic School's first principal was Mary Breen. This school was established in 1939, with only 2 classrooms. Additions to the school were made in 1943, 1947 and 1951. The library and gymnasium were added in 1966. The school goes to mass once a month in their school church, St. Anselm's Church, as a whole school, and pray to Jesus and God. Today the school serves students from Kindergarten to 8th grade.
In 1997, the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) made funds for the school to be a two story building. When the school was being renovated, the students were moved to 1107 Avenue Road, which is now Marshall McLuhan. The students came back to the newly renovated school in 1998.[2]
Uniforms
In 2011, all the TCDSB schools, including St. Anselm, all had a dress code. St. Anselm's dress code is to wear a plain white top, or plain navy blue top, and a plain navy blue bottom.[3]
