Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering ( SNGCE ) was established in the year 2002 by Kunnathunadu S.N.D.P Union, headquartered at Perumbavoor with a view to accomplish the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru (1855–1928), the social reformer who is considered as the leader of Indian Renaissance movement.

Like the government-controlled CUSAT Dept. Of Ship Technology, SNGCE offers a B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ship Building.

The campus

The campus occupies 40 acres situated in the outskirts of Kochi. The college is 4 km north of Kolenchery and 14 km south of Perumbavoor on the Kolenchery - Perumbavoor road.

The college is housed in its permanent location and has a constructed area of 165,400 sq ft. It has separate dormitories for men and women. The ladies' hostel is located within the campus.

Sree Narayana Gurukulam Trust

The college is managed by the Sree Narayana Gurukulam Trust, a registered charitable society comprising personalities from diverse spheres in Kerala.

The functioning of the institution is steered by the Sree Narayana Gurukulam Trust. The members of the trust hail from various professional fields.

The College has been approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and it is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.

Naval Architecture and Ship Building

Established in the academic year 2013-14, the Department offers B.Tech program in Naval Architecture & Ship Building Engineering. A naval architect is a professional engineer who is responsible for the design, construction, ship building and repair of ships.

SNGCE is the only college in the MG university and the only institute after CUSAT to offer this course.

The department offers B Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ship building engineering with focus on the studies on ship, marine bodies design, construction, hydrostatic characteristics, stability, occupational safety and health, hydrodynamics of vessels, offshore structures, design and analyze of marine structure & marine engineering systems, project management, quality control, etc. IMO rules and regulations, subsea installation, subsea integrity, offshore codes and standards, CFD, Computer Aided Drafting, Mooring and Riser analysis, Pipe line Engineering, Marine HVAC, other related specializations. They also work on the design and construction of marine installations such as off-shore drilling platforms.

The department is tied up with Department Of Ocean Engineering , Indian Institute Of Technology , Madras for utilizing some of the lab facilities.

The department is growing at a remarkable rate in the last 2 years since it's inception.

The first batch of students will graduate in 2017.


Computer Science and Engineering Department

Established in the year 2002, the Department offers B.Tech program in Computer Science & Engineering. The 4-year B.Tech program enables a prospective student to acquire the knowledge, skill, and attitude to succeed as an Engineer or Scientist in an industry built on Computational technology. The Department has experienced significant growth over the last nine years with a team of faculty strong in theory, systems, computer graphics, multimedia, programming languages, computer security, and computational science, artificial intelligence, and computer networks. Most of the faculty members are Post Graduates in Computer Science & Engineering pursuing Doctoral program.

Library

The library in SNGCE has over 15847 volumes. It houses more than 12,000 volumes and has spacious reading room, reference section, journal section, periodical section and CD ROM based information systems.
