History

Founded by John Graber in 1939 as The Graber Co., Springs Window Fashions has become a leader in window coverings and drapery hardware.[2] The Graber Co. began with John Graber's invention of the drapery crane marketed as the Badger Crane, which was manufactured in Middleton, WI.[3]

After World War II, the Graber Co. introduced traverse rods and became the first company to use nylon slides in their window treatments.[4] The innovations continued and by the late 1960s, roller shades and vertical blinds were added to the company’s product lines.[5] In 1979, Springs Industries acquired the Graber Co. Pleated shades were introduced in 1983 and in 1989, Springs acquired Bali, a market leader in horizontal blinds. Nanik, the premier manufacturer of "Fine Furniture for Windows" joined Springs Industries in 1995.[6] .

With its flagship brands, Springs Window Fashions goes to market across five channels: Mass Retail, Designer (specialty retail store fronts and independent designers and decorators), Commercial, Internet and International.[7]
