Springfield Central is a suburb in the City of Ipswich, approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) south-west of the Brisbane CBD, the capital city of the Australian state of Queensland. At the 2011 Australian Census the suburb recorded a population of 105.[1] The Centenary Highway passes through the north of the suburb.
Central business district
The suburb is the commercial, retail, educational, health and infrastructure hub of the Greater Springfield development. It contains the Orion shopping centre, a campus of the University of Southern Queensland, railway station, office buildings, a large parkland called Robelle Domain, several schools and a hospital under construction. Springfield Central State High School was established 2011.[2] Robelle Domain covers 24 ha and includes boardwalks, walking and cycle tracks, sports fields, playgrounds, a children’s water park, stage and amphitheatre, lake and cafe.[3] The Mater Private Hospital will initially be able to support 80-beds and is designed to expand as demand increases.[4]
