Spring.me (formerly known as Formspring) is a social media network for meeting people and starting conversations.[2][3] The beta was launched in July 2013, with the public site launched in September 2013. The Spring.me team is based in Silicon Beach, Los Angeles; Sydney Australia; and Belgrade, Serbia.

History

In March 2013, Formspring.me, founded by Ade Olonoh, announced it was closing down and was acquired by Spring.me in May 2013. The Formspring website shut down in August 2013.[4] Spring.me was launched in beta in July 2013 and was open to old Formspring members. Spring.me was launched to the public in September 2013.

In April 2014, GRP Corporation Limited (to be renamed Spring Networks Limited) a diversified financials company announced that it is acquiring Helpa Inc. and its spring.me social media network business. The company’s flagship website, spring.me launched in September 2013 and is a social media network of websites and mobile applications for making friends. The team’s aim is to become the world’s leading social media network for making friends with over 100 million regular users.[5]

Features

Spring.me is a social network where members have profile pages, can post content, including photos, videos, animated gifs and questions, and can answer questions or comment. Members can also smile at content and can share on Spring.me or other social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

The Feed forms a central part of Spring.me and it appears on every user's homepage highlighting information including profile changes, videos, pictures and posts from the user's followers. As a social network, Spring.me revolves around the principle of followers. When another Spring.me user is chosen to be followed, that user's posts appear in reverse chronological order on your main Spring.me feed.

Users can create their own profiles with photos and other personal information. In addition they can communicate with followers and other users through private or public messages. Sharing option for posts, questions, photos and videos with other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter is available. Users can also mention other users by adding the "@" sign followed by a username when mentioning or replying to other users. The Smile button on Spring.me is a social networking feature similar to Facebook’s Like button. It allows users to express and share their appreciation of content such as comments, photos and questions.
